Canter's DeliCanters Deli was just a few doors down from the gallery where I held my fourth annual art show. After a long morning of signing prints and setting up, we decided to grab something to eat. Once I got over the excitement of being in such an iconic eatery, I was quickly brought back to reality when my food arrived and reminded me just how large American portions are. Despite my best efforts, I barely made a dent in my sandwich before I had to surrender

I loved the idea that someone could glance at their print and decide what they wanted to order ahead of time

I’m not sure if it’s just because I actually like the burgers or because it feels like a uniquely Californian experience that I can’t miss out on

I always love spotting that iconic record-shaped tower whenever I’m driving down the 101

like a quiet nod to locals and a little piece of the city’s character

I love how it blends seamlessly into the nature around it while still feeling strikingly modern for its time

you feel like you could almost reach out and touch them

Fun fact: these buildings are both charming and controversial in LA

making it a favourite spot for both locals and tourists alike
